Joe Bonamassa. This guy’s really special. You know that when B.B. King asks you to open for him at HIS club on Beale Street in Memphis, you’re pretty damned special. That’s when Joe’s musical career truly took off.
He does some incredible electric material but he’s also a phenomenal acoustic player. This particular tune is a great straight acoustic Blues tune, live at the Vienna Opera House. Hope you dig it!!

Wow. Where do I begin? As this band does, I’m gonna keep it real simple. These gentlemen personify the Blues intertwined with and channeled through Rock n’ Roll. It oozes out of this band.
Some people say that they sound rather “generic” in their genre. What people fail to realize is the fact that it was these guys who invented the genre in the first place, way back around 1970. Most people on the planet in the civilized world have heard of this band, whether or not they’ve ever heard a single number of theirs. Am I right?
My first show of theirs was back in 1988 at the Capital Center in Landover, Maryland, very near my home town of Annapolis. I was 15. I don’t know how many of their shows I’ve caught since then. Many.

That show, the first of many, was absolutely transformative for me. It changed my life, as crazy as that sounds. Even today, having hundreds of live shows of many, many artists under my belt, I’ve still yet to experience another live gig that feels like theirs do. They’re just not out there. I’ll stop now because I’m not good enough with words to transmit an effective description. Just listen, dammit.

​Bruce is obviously a fantastic pianist but he’s also one hell of an accordion player. That’s showcased in a big way with this tune.
His live stuff is always tremendous, and that’s where true musical soul resides for me. He’s also got a tremendous band, and they all get down with some amazing jams in this particular version. (The studio version is less than four minutes!!)
Forgive the storytelling intro with this track. Make it through the first minute or so, and I think you’ll be richly rewarded.​
