I've been avoiding & ignoring this post.  It's hard to put it together and I really don't know what to say.  I haven't been able to pick any tunes yet either.  I'm in a mental fog with the whole thing.

Ozzy was one of my very first forays into the world of heavy metal when I was about 13, along with Iron Maiden and Judas Priest.  Like a lot of people, hearing his voice for the first time was a moment of sublime discovery.  My mind and soul said, "Hell yes, this is the shit I'm suppose to be listening to".  Randy Rhodes, his guitarist, was also a huge part of that.  It was all a kind of musical revelation for me.

I was fortunate enough to catch two gigs of his in the early 90's.  I was in college at the time.  A hot female friend of mine had gotten two tickets and invited me.  Ozzy, beautiful and available friend, beer to be drunk & dope to be smoked.  What in the world was not to like?  Unfortunately, I was so immersed in the whole thing musically that I didn't focus on the beautiful, single, female friend.  Ironic and funny but what a damned shame.  (Ultimately, the relationship did evolve but not enough for my taste.)​
 

That first show was a remember-forever event for me.  Seeing Ozzy along with guitarist Zakk Wylde was a mind-bending experience.  There's not a whole lot more that I can say about it.

I'm not going to give you a sentimental biography of the man.  You can get that anywhere.  I'm also not going to get into the Black Sabbath element either.  I'd very much like to write a good bit about his wife and manager Sharon.  There's a hell of a lot to say but this isn't the time or place to for a vitriolic missive about the woman.  Suffice it to say that I had no use for her at all.

​I simply miss the hell out of the guy.  He opened a new musical horizon for me and remains one of my favorite musicians in the genre.  I'll be forever Grateful to and for him and I now know that I'll never outgrow his music.  I'm also incredibly thankful for that fact.

​

I'll post a few tunes of his which I love and may be new to a lot of people.  I always hope to expose you guys to material that might also give you a bit of a broadening of musical landscapes and might just hit that sweet spot.  Listen.
